The PADI Equipment Specialist Course is designed for divers who want to better understand how their scuba equipment works and how to keep it performing at its best.
Modern scuba equipment is highly reliable, but understanding the function and operation of your gear can help prevent problems, improve safety and increase confidence both above and below the water.
Whether you own a complete set of diving equipment or regularly rent gear from dive centres, this course provides valuable knowledge that will help you become a more informed diver.
During the course, you'll learn about the design, function and maintenance requirements of the major components of a scuba system. You'll also gain practical experience identifying common equipment issues and carrying out simple preventative maintenance that can help avoid disruptions to your diving adventures.
Under the guidance of an experienced PADI Professional, you'll explore:
How regulators function
Cylinder valves and scuba cylinders
Buoyancy Control Devices (BCDs)
Dive computers and instrumentation
Exposure protection systems
Weight systems
Mask, snorkel and fin design
Equipment care and storage
Routine maintenance procedures

Please note that the Equipment Specialist Course does not qualify divers to service life-support equipment. Equipment servicing and repairs should always be carried out by qualified technicians.
Prerequsites
To enrol on the PADI Equipment Specialist Course you must:
Be at least 10 years old
Hold a PADI Scuba Diver certification or higher (or qualifying certification from another recognised training organisation)
No in-water training dives are required.
